CVE-2026-83535 Flaw: openstack-network-exporter Authentication Bypass

Sources read

Source agreement

Evidence confidence

Short explanation

A flaw in openstack-network-exporter causes the basic authentication mechanism to be silently bypassed when Transport Layer Security is omitted or misconfigured. This allows adjacent network attackers to access sensitive dataplane metrics without credentials.

Why does it matter?

The silent bypass of the authentication mechanism enables unauthorized parties to inspect network topology and sensitive data directly. This information disclosure flaw compromises overall system security.

What should be done?

  • Follow official vendor advisories.
  • Ensure TLS configurations are complete and properly set up.
  • Verify that authentication mechanisms operate correctly.
Chain of evidence and sources3 verified claims

openstack-network-exporter bileşeninde TLS eksik veya yanlış yapılandırıldığında kimlik doğrulama mekanizması sessizce atlanır.

Fail-open tasarımı, komşu ağ saldırganının kimlik bilgisi olmadan hassas Open vSwitch ve Open Virtual Network metriklerine erişmesine izin verir.

Bu güvenlik açığı köprü isimlerinin, port sayaçlarının, OVN denetleyici durumunun ve host topolojisinin ifşa olmasına neden olur.

Show the technical text from the sources

A flaw was found in openstack-network-exporter. When an operator configures user authentication but omits or misconfigures Transport Layer Security (TLS), the basic authentication mechanism is silently bypassed. This fail-open design allows an adjacent network attacker to access sensitive Open vSwitch (OVS) and Open Virtual Network (OVN) dataplane metrics without credentials. Consequently, an attacker can enumerate bridge names, port counters, OVN controller state, and host topology, leading to information disclosure.

Patch and Remediation Guide

Solution & Remediation Advisory

Patch status unknown

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı. Bu sonuç “yama yok” anlamına gelmez.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.

Public exploit and active exploitation status

Verified exploit intelligence

No verified public PoC, exploit repository or Metasploit module has been found for this CVE yet.
