Short explanation

An integer wraparound vulnerability in psqlODBC SQLBindParameter allows heap memory corruption and application crashes when binding more than 32767 parameters.

Why does it matter?

This vulnerability enables attackers targeting applications that build parameter lists from untrusted input to corrupt memory integrity and cause denial of service.

What should be done?

  • Follow vendor advisories and updates.
  • Review applications building large parameter lists from untrusted input.
  • Limit the number of bound parameters where applicable.
Chain of evidence and sources2 verified claims

psqlODBC SQLBindParameter işlevindeki tamsayı sarmalama sorunu, 32767'den fazla parametre bağlandığında yığın belleğin bozulmasına neden olur.

psqlODBC 18.00.0005 öncesi sürümler bu güvenlik açığından etkilenmektedir.

Show the technical text from the sources

Integer wraparound in psqlODBC SQLBindParameter allows an application, or an attacker who controls how many parameters the application binds on one statement, to corrupt heap memory. psqlODBC stores the binding count in a signed 16-bit field. Binding parameter number 32768 wraps that count to -32768. Binding parameter 32769 then writes about 2.5 MB of zeros starting 1.25 MB before the binding array, which crashes the application or leaves it running on a corrupted heap. Applications that build parameter lists from untrusted input, such as an IN (?, ?, ...) list, are exposed. Versions before psqlODBC 18.00.0005 are affected.

Patch and Remediation Guide

Solution & Remediation Advisory

Patch status unknown

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı. Bu sonuç “yama yok” anlamına gelmez.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
