Short explanation

obsidian-tc prior to version 1.3.1 contains an information exposure vulnerability allowing an authenticated caller to directly read files. S0

Why does it matter?

This vulnerability may allow attackers to directly read sensitive vault data such as plugin API keys and Obsidian Sync passwords. S0

What should be done?

  • Follow the vendor advisory instructions. S0
  • Update to version 1.3.1 or later. S0
  • Configure control directory protections and strictReadDefault settings. S0
Chain of evidence and sources3 verified claims

obsidian-tc 1.3.1 öncesi sürümlerde kontrol dizinleri yalnızca numaralandırma sırasında hariç tutulur. S0

Yetkilendirilmiş bir arayan .obsidian/plugins/*/data.json dosyalarını doğrudan okuyabilir. S0

Sürüm 1.3.1, kontrol dizinlerini varsayılan olarak reddederek zafiyeti giderir. S0

Show the technical text from the sources

obsidian-tc is a governed, agent-ready Model Context Protocol server for Obsidian vaults. Prior to 1.3.1, undefined readPaths and writePaths settings allow all paths, strictReadDefault does not protect direct requests, and the .obsidian, .git, and .trash control directories are excluded only during enumeration. An authenticated caller can directly read sensitive files such as .obsidian/plugins/*/data.json, potentially exposing plugin API keys, Obsidian Sync passwords, and other in-vault data. Version 1.3.1 fixes the vulnerability by denying the control directories by default and enforcing strictReadDefault on direct request paths.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
