Short explanation

A high-severity vulnerability in the Eclipse Foundation jaxb-ri (core) component allows attackers to read local files via out-of-band XXE due to reliance solely on FEATURE_SECURE_PROCESSING for blocking XML external entity resolution (S0).

Why does it matter?

This unauthenticated vulnerability can allow attackers to access sensitive data through vulnerable systems (S0).

What should be done?

  • Follow official vendor advisories and apply updates (S0)
Chain of evidence and sources2 verified claims

Eclipse Foundation jaxb-ri (core) sürümleri 4.0.4 ve 4.0.9 etkilenmektedir.

Güvenlik açığı CVSS 4.0 taban puanı 8.3 olarak derecelendirilmiştir.

Show the technical text from the sources

The JAXB factory methods historically relied solely on `FEATURE_SECURE_PROCESSING` to prevent XML External Entity (XXE) resolution. On JAXP implementations where that feature alone does not block external entity resolution, an attacker who can get untrusted XML unmarshalled through JAXB can read local files via out-of-band XXE.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
